Anyone can be a writer, not everyone can be a good one. As my first attempt at something like this, please give me a break if its sucks. Putting "pen" to "paper" has never been something that I like doing. I have never kept a diary or journal. My papers in school usually met the length requirement, nothing more nothing less. I am mortified of puncuation and grammer. From primary school forward I always landed the English teacher who favored literature over grammer, so this is what you get.
I have never been the type to put alot of stock in a persons age. Why people lie about their age, and belly ache about how they are "so old" is a mystery to me. Fifty year olds can be immature, and twenty year olds can be crotchety. My perspective is that birthdays are a milestone. Some milestones are bigger than others. I do not believe that the passage of years is negative, scary, or something to dread. Why shouldn't it be something to look forward to? My 30th falls on Thanksgiving Day this year. You know what I am doing, celebrating thats what! My mom and I are going to New York. (btw as I typed this I was singing Alicia Keys, New York State of Mind. I think it should be read that way.) Macy's Thankgiving Day Parade. Where I will be 30 going 8 years old. You better believe I am looking forward to 30!
When I turned 28 I started my own version of a New Years Resolution. I set a goal and my 29th birthday was the deadline. I said " I will not turn 29 being a smoker". In the weeks leading up to my 29th birthday I took Chantix and quit. I made a goal, and met it. So on my 29th birthday I set another goal. I said "I am not going to turn 30 being a fatty". Now, I am not trying to start a debate with this statement. It is just how I was feeling. The last couple years have been abounding with changes, and my body went turncoat and let me down. Please.. it wasn't my body, it was my unhealthy/super fun lifestyle that got me into this mess.
This goal is a bit more involved, and you can't take a pill to make it happen. This is going to take considerably more willpower. I joined Sky Fitness and Well Being in Mid-December. I have set a goal to hit the gym at bare minimum three times a week. So far I lived up to, and exceeded that goal.
The gym is not the hard part of this goal. EATING IS. Anyone who knows me at all, knows that I am a foodie. It does make this undertaking more difficult. Thank god for the internet, otherwise I would have no idea what to cook and eat. I take suggestions on recipes. I get bored. I need new things.
Cliche', I know. Ohh well. This will be my chronical of the next year. Not just a diet/workout chronical, a grand farewell to my 20's.
P.S. .. and it's an election year, I am sure I will have plenty to say about that.
150.
